We are currently looking for a Senior Project Accountant (SPA) to lead the newly created Middle East central project accounting team. The SPA will report to the Head of Finance shared services and will be responsible for a team of 6 staff based in Dubai.



The project accounting team is involved in assisting Project Managers with the preparation of invoices, project financial reporting, and overall financial management. The SPA will be responsible for the day to day assistance provided to the PMs as well continuous improvement in the value adding activities provided by the team.



Responsibilities



Line management of 6 staff, providing continuous professional development and mentoring



Development and implementation of standard processes for project accounting support to be used across the region.



This may include the development of new processes as well as standardisation region wide;



Development of standard reports using MS Excel to manipulate project data from the transactional accounting system, JD Edwards



Ensuring compliance with business management processes and internal audit requirements, including continuous review of project accounting controls



Effectively communicate with none finance staff to ensure project accounting procedures are understood and adhered to.



Development of internal KPIs in consultation with Head of Finance Shared Services and continuous management of the team against these KPIs;



Management of project reviews for annual external audit;

Ad hoc support to Project directors for major projects and major project bids;

Requirements



Technical Competencies



Essential



Degree level or higher qualification in Finance, science, mathematics, or related field



Expert level knowledge of MS Excel



Minimum of 5 years experience in a Finance or Commercial role



Working knowledge of other Microsoft office tools



Proven experience of interacting with internal or external clients



Experience of working within a multi-cultural environment



Desirable



Qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA or other recognized Western Accounting qualification



Working knowledge of JD Edwards, Hyperion and other

finance specific IT systems and databases
